How difficult is it to learn? Badugi is quite simple to learn but may take a little time to get used to. In Badugi, we use only 4 cards for hand ranking, compared to the traditional five. Also, suits are key in this game, meaning: you’d look to ultimately get all four cards in different suits.

As for the ranking, hands are ranked in Badugi from the highest card downwards. In case players possess the same high card, we use the 2nd card to conclude the lowest hand.

The dangers: Again, since this is a type of draw poker, you won’t have any intel on the hand strength of your opponents.

Chinese Poker

Another game that is very different than most other variants of poker. Why? Because it doesn’t really follow any of the traditional poker patterns. However, it’s a very simple game to learn and is regarded as a good beginner’s variant.

Chinese Poker is mostly played with a total of 4 players, although it can also be played with 3 or even only 2 players. Thirteen cards are dealt for each player, who then divide them into three hands of different strengths: Their strongest 5-card hand, their semi-strongest 5-card hand, and their weakest 3-card hand. Following this, the players will show their hands in the order of strongest, semi-strongest, and weakest hands. A player wins a hand by having the highest hand for each strength category compared to his opponents.
