Hello and thank you very much for tuning in to this new trip report. In today’s video we’re flying with KLM from San Francisco through to Amsterdam on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in Economy Comfort. But before the flight, let’s have a look at the Air France-KLM lounge at this airport, The lounge is pretty small and feels packed. Whenever the lounge here is full, people are being sent upstairs to go to the China Airlines lounge. There’s plenty of liquor available to host a party, but it was a bit too early for that Food and offering here is decent: both hot and cold buffet. Boarding started early and I usually start walking to the gate when boarding starts according to the time on my boarding card. When I got to the gate the majority had already gone on board. I had chosen to sit at the front row in Economy Comfort: the bulkhead. But even though this seat gives an amazing view on the engine and wing, it was a bit of a mistake to sit here. I’ll tell you all about it in a minute. After takeoff you fly over the airport of Oakland and if you get lucky you get to see other aircraft take off. Not much later a first round of drinks is served together with some almonds. I didn’t even have enough time to finish a first glass of wine before the food was served already. This is a vegetarian pasta. Luckily, it tastes it better than it looked like It comes with a salad with salad dressing, a bread roll, butter, a piece of cheese and an apple dessert. What I like about KLM is that they also serve and digestif like this amaretto to ward off in a food coma. You have to because after all the food trays are collected, the lights are dimmed. And your windows are forcibly dimmed as well. The seats and coach are laid out in three-three-three configuration. The economy comfort seats are just regular economy seats, but with extra legroom. Sitting bulkhead has a couple of disadvantages Some of the extra legroom is lost because your toes touch the bulkhead. Also, the screen is stored your armrest, making the armrest wider and immovable I had the whole road to myself, but I couldn’t lie flat. There is a pair of headphones provided by KLM, but trust me: bring your own. Both the port for the headphones and the USB port can be found in the TV screen. There is a universal power socket underneath each seat. But if you use an adapter like mine, with the North American plug, you’re gonna have a bad time. So make sure you switch to your European or British plug before you get on board. The aircraft is Wi-Fi enabled. Slowly we got closer to our destination. But before arrival breakfast is served to help you adjust to the different time zone. Breakfast includes some fresh fruits, yogurt and a cheese omelet with some turkey I slept most of the way, so I didn’t use the entertainment system much. But the touch screen is very responsive and the moving map has some interesting features. And that wraps up our video today. I hoped you enjoyed watching it. If you did, please give it a big thumbs up. Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you would subscribe to my channel for more interesting videos like this one. See you next week.
